This Week in Third Grade

Reading:
We will be focusing on questioning this week while we are reading. There will be no reading response journals due this week.

Writing:
We are going to begin our unit on persuasive writing this week!

Math:
We will continue to learn about geometry. We are focusing on different ways we can categorize triangles, quadrilaterals, and more!

Fact Practice: I am asking that the students practice their multiplication facts for 5 out of the 7 days of the week. I will check their logs every Friday to make sure that they have been practicing. If your student practices more than 5 days out of the week, they do not write it down. For the sake of grading, your student's week begins on Friday and ends Thursday.

Social Studies:
We are moving forward in our economics unit. We have started talking about how companies advertise their products, and we are going to be working on creating a business plan sometime this week.

Science:
We are moving forward in our discussion about the water cycle. Students will look into the different types of clouds and forms of precipitation.

Other:

Tuesday: Fine Arts Night is going to be in the cafeteria at 6:30 PM.

Wednesday: We have an early dismissal at 1:40 PM. Please make sure that your student is aware of how they will be getting home.

Thursday: Dress like a Teacher Day!

On Thursday if 3rd-5th bring in their JRFH donation envelope or donations they receive a sticker. For K-5 can bring in any donation for a sticker.  If anyone donates $5 or more they receive a duck.  Students do not need to bring in a donation to dress like a teacher.  If a child brings in a donation they are not required to dress up-these are common questions from the students. Donations/envelopes can be brought in before Thursday.

Friday: Jump Rope for Heart!
Valentines Day party at 1:45 PM.  I posted some information about Valentines Day last night. Be sure to check it out to get more information.

2/17 is President's Day so we will have no school!
