Publishing Party

We have been working so hard on our personal narratives. We finally finished them! We decided it would be a great idea to celebrate our writing with a publishing party! Students took turns reading their pieces to partners and to the whole group! We had a blast! Here's a look at all of our fun!

Personal narratives are graded. Students received an email from Miss Gardner letting them know their grade, and some feedback. They all turned out great!

Pet Party

This year we have been working hard to fill our bean jar. Every time we get a compliment from another teacher Miss Gardner fills it with a scoop of beans. We finally filled it a couple of weeks ago.  Our class sat down and had a vote on how we would like to celebrate. The vote was almost unanimous. We decided to have a Pet Party.  It fit in perfectly with our science curriculum because we had just finished learning about vertebrates.

We decided it would be a great idea to invite the other third grade classes to see all of the animals. We had a blast. Miss Gardner's dad brought in two chinchillas and two snakes! We even got to hold them!

A SPOOKtacular Halloween!

Despite the dreary weather, we had a great Halloween! We worked together with partners to create fun Halloween poems using adjectives, nouns, and verbs. They turned out fantastic!

It was clear that the parade was going to be the highlight of our day! Everyone was so excited. After getting ready we grouped together to take a class picture. Then we were ready to roam the hallways for some parade fun!

After the parade we came back to our room for our Halloween party put together by our lovely room parents!

We had a blast coloring our trick-or treat bags and estimating how many pieces of candy were in the container! We saw just how great of character we had here at Sappington when the student who won the contest shared his candy with the whole class! How awesome is that??

We are looking forward to our next celebration!

Botanical Gardens!

We have been focusing on plants the past few weeks. We learned about their different parts and  functions. We also learned about their life cycles and we even grew our own pinto bean plants in class.

We were so excited when we found out we were going to be able to go to the Missouri Botanical Gardens for our first field trip this year!

When we arrived at the gardens we were split into groups for guided tours. We visited multiple greenhouses that represented different biomes. Our guides were friendly and very informative. They even quizzed us on what we knew.

After we explored the garden, we visited the Wyland Exhibit and learned about keeping our water clean!

We even got to take part in creating a mural outside! We were cold outside but we toughed through it!

Afterwards we got on the bus and rode to Tower Grove Park. We had lunch and played on the playground. It was a blast!
